Spring Lawn Care
The goal for lawn care in the Spring is to protect against weed development and encourage root development to prepare the grass for the hot summer months. Creating a healthy soil environment, fertilizing, proper watering and mowing practices together will help achieve this.
Spring Lawn Care Tips
- Apply a pre-emergent before soil temperatures get to 52-55 degrees to help with crab grass and other broad leaf weed protection.
- Do not aerate your lawn if you apllied and pre-emergent chemical. The aeration will damage the chemical barrier.
- If we are not providing lawn care services for you, sharpen your mowing blades.
- Do not apply too much nitrogen. Cool season grass only needs about 1/2-1 lbs per 1,000 square feet in the spring.
